THE HORSES

Midnight Matrix (Night): Fresian/Apploosa cross, 8 yrs., has previous training but has not been consistently ridden correctly for two years.

Diablo Del Sol (Sunny): Standardbred/Thoroughbred cross, 18 yrs., trained to first level, but excels in show jumping and eventing.

Mr. Persnickety (Snickers): Hackney Pony, 6 yrs., fairly green, but is very sensitive to leg and enjoys jumping.

Wow its hot

Rating: C1

Horse: Night

Scenario: Schooling the Arena (home)

Length of Ride: 45 min. plus 10 min lunging

Details: The lunging was fairly uneventful, so I just got on him pretty quickly, and he was very responsive. I need to remember to start taking his TPRs... I keep forgetting. He was a little fidgety at first, but then he relaxed and starting working through his back and coming round. We did leg-yields, shoulder-ins, turn on the haunches, and turn on the forehand all successfully at the walk. At the trot, he was slightly less responsive, but we did some decent leg-yields as well as some lengthening. We also went through trot poles, which really helped him engage his stifles and knees. All in all, it was a very successful ride.
