THE HORSES

Midnight Matrix (Night): Fresian/Apploosa cross, 8 yrs., has previous training but has not been consistently ridden correctly for two years.

Diablo Del Sol (Sunny): Standardbred/Thoroughbred cross, 18 yrs., trained to first level, but excels in show jumping and eventing.

Mr. Persnickety (Snickers): Hackney Pony, 6 yrs., fairly green, but is very sensitive to leg and enjoys jumping.

Just Starting

Rating: C1

Horse: Night

Scenario: Schooling in the arena (home)

Length of Ride: 30 minutes plus 10 minutes lunging

Details: Ride went well. For a horse that hasn't been riding properly in two years, it didn't take long for him to start responding my leg. Leg yields are almost there and really helped him focus, as well as turns of the forehand. He halts square, and he responds well to halts when he is misbehaving. All important things to know. Taking him to my lesson Monday for Stacy to try.
